Why did your team choose to focus on this challenge?Our team chose to focus on this challenge because we believe that mental health is a huge problem that is faced not only by people our age but a lot of people in general. We feel that this would be a great topic to choose because we feel that we can relate to it ourselves.
What have you learned about the challenge that you didn't know before?
We learned that people our age don’t think that they have the proper facilities to deal with poor mental health in our local community. We learned Two huge factors contributing to poor mental health are that people think that school puts a huge stress upon them and also that social media enforces ridiculous standards.
Outline the specific problem you would like to solve for your Hero and two or three solutions you think would help.
Jimmy Egan is the head chef at the rustic inn and he comes into work early an leaves very late. He also has several children at home. These children are entering a challenging time as two of them are facing their leaving cert. He is very worried about his childrens mental health and is concerned about how they are doing as he works long hours and isn’t always able to check in with them and see how their coping. A solution that might help him would be an app or website in which children can anonymously connect with people going through the similar problems and find solutions without having to exchange details or meet in person. This would help the children sort out their problems and their father could rest easy. Similar to that idea they could implement some sort of website in which there is more information online as with all the websites it can get very confusing, it could also give advice on how to deal with these problems. These are some of the ideas we have that we think could help our hero profile
