Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

We chose as a team to pick the problem of displaced people as it hits close to home for many people around the globe, it directly or indirectly affects almost everyone in the world, from housing crisis’ to the cost of living, this has mainly been caused by the Russo-Ukraine war. We believe that with the help of our idea, we can help ease the stress from the refugee crisis we are facing.

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

We learned that with the war in Ukraine still ongoing, many Ukrainians are emigrating to other countries, which causes major strain on governments around the world, increasing the demand for action to be taken and assistance provided to the many displaced people, scaling to the demand could cause a problem. A solution is needed desperately to help improve the lives of both refugees and everyone else as currently some refugees do not have a proper home and live in refugee centers

What have you learnt about your Hero?

Our heroes name is Michael, a 35 year old refugee, he is an amputee after an explosion in Ukraine. He currently lives in a refugee center in rural county Leitrim. He has been separated from his family during the war and struggles with his disability due to the standard of housing in the center, because of the location of the refugee center, he struggles to find a job and he wishes to relocate to a more urban area and reunite with his family, before returning to education to become a Lawyer.

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

If we can improve one thing for our hero we would choose to improve his housing circumstances as with his current circumstances, he finds it difficult to find work and education, while also living in subpar living conditions, if we could change one thing for him, it would be to improve his living conditions and allow him to have more access to the services that he needs to succeed

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

We do have an idea in a website that aims to inform and educate refugees and immigrants of any information that is not covered by other websites and also help them to find jobs and education, we also aim to have this highly accessible to anyone by having it in their native languages for ease of access, we believe this can help people become more integrated into Irish society. We believe this would be of benefit to everyone .

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

Do you believe that this is an achievable and good idea which can become a successful and do you have any advice which can help us to improve our idea that we may have overlooked which can help us to produce an overall better and more refined final product for the Big Idea as we may be biased towards our idea and we wish to have an outside perspective on our idea
