Why did your team choose to focus on this challenge?Our team chose to focus on the topic of the cost of living because of the current cost of living crisis and its effects on people. We think that this topic affects everyone in both significant and insignificant ways.
What have you learned about the challenge that you didn't know before?
From researching about the cost of living we found that the cost-of-living crisis is driven by the over reliance of gas or oil. On going conflicts cause supply chain issues which affect the crisis. In Ireland alone 77% of the population are worried about their finances due to the ongoing cost of living.
Outline the specific problem you would like to solve for your Hero and two or three solutions you think would help.
Our hero is a father of 3 children living in Ireland who are severely struggling with money due to the cost-of-living crisis. Problems for our Hero: Cost of food + essentials Rent of a house Education- 3 children (college, school & preschool) Unemployment in household Solutions for our hero: More benefits to help them get by Create more houses to reduce the demand for houses in Ireland Rent is too high (landlords' lower cost) Fix the supply crisis to farm essentials like nuts, fertilizer etc. The middleman should get a lower cut of the profit and more should go to the farmer.
