Why did your team choose to focus on this challenge?Due to the cost-of-living crisis in Ireland affecting countless young people, like us, we felt it was an appropriate and a recent topic to cover. This problem can affect anyone in the world, and although there are options for help out there, we think that our idea can a be a major tool for struggling students and blossoming families in Ireland to help reach financial freedom and relieve stress caused by financial burden.
What have you learned about the challenge that you didn't know before?
We learned that many people struggle with financial issues not caused by their environment or circumstances, but by their knowledge on the topic. That is why a major goal for our app will be to provide free quality financial education to anyone willing to learn.
Outline the specific problem you would like to solve for your Hero and two or three solutions you think would help.
The main problem our hero has is his lack of financial freedom and literacy, leading to him feeling trapped and helpless. One solution our app will provide is methods of budgeting. Methods such as restaurants that offer student discounts, meal deals, affordable transportation A second is a free, accessible source of financial education that can help all save, budget and spend wisely. And a third would be a map showing all establishments giving meal deals, offers on food and places giving student discounts.
