Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

We chose to focus on this challenge as we believe that there is a lack of diversity and inclusion in our society, and it is important that we, as young people, aim to see individuals as equals.

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

We didn’t know how many people struggled with diversity and inclusion before we began our project. In the end we recognised that there were a lot more people struggling with fitting in and feeling included than we initially thought.

What have you learnt about your Hero?

Our hero is Eddie O Callaghan. One of the challenges that he faces is a bad knee and has a hard time in his life with his own personal relationships. We believe that we can all relate to those problems in our personal lives, and it is very inspirational to see how resilient that our hero can be.

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

We would improve his social skills, as he seems to struggle with life in that front.

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

One solution of which we are considering as a group is immersing Eddie in more social situations. This may be seen as throwing our hero in the deep end, however we believe that it is a very efficient solution.

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

Why do you struggle with social situations? What about them makes you uncomfortable?
