Why did your team choose to focus on this challenge?The challenge we chose to explore,research and find solutions to is on the topic of Cost Of Living. We are interested in this challenge because there is a clear issue on this topic at the moment, and it impacts many people in our society. We want to find ways to help and support people who are in financial difficulties or may face leaving their home or putting pressure on families that cannot afford to do extra curricular activities
What have you learned about the challenge that you didn't know before?
We discovered from our primary research students felt that they knew the term Cost Of Living and connected it to inflation, financial pressures and all of them made reference that it’s worse now than ever before. We also asked the question do you think the government should lower the cost of goods, and one student said no because people would just take advantage of it and use that money that they have saved on unnecessary things like drink and drunks and one other student said that the government should lower to help support those struggling for healthy meals.
Outline the specific problem you would like to solve for your Hero and two or three solutions you think would help.
Parents or carers are struggling and are either cutting down extra curricular activities or cannot provide to develop their child’s interests. We would like to come up with a solution to support families and this area of learning by creating a local app/website a community hub, where if they register we may be able to set up partnering groups.
