Why did your team choose to focus on this challenge?We chose to focus on this challenge because we saw the damage that a lack of knowledge on recycling was contributing to the harm of our environment. We wanted to create an app to equip people with the knowledge and strategies on improving their recycling habits and motivating them to re-cycle.
What have you learned about the challenge that you didn't know before?
We found from our primary research, interviews with family and friends, that most people don’t recycle because they feel like recycling alone won’t make a positive difference.
Outline the specific problem you would like to solve for your Hero and two or three solutions you think would help.
Our Hero faces the problem of a lack of motivation to re-cycle. To solve this problem, we have come up with the idea of an app which includes a fun points system which you can use to move up regional leaderboards and win digital prizes. Our app would also equip people with recycling strategies and knowledge.
