Mental health has always been a really important topic amongst our friend group, whether that is because we struggled with it ourselves, one know someone who struggled with their mental health. This idea also helps those who don't fall into the typical white cishet world we find ourselves in.
We learnt that a lot of teenagers struggle with their mental health and if we use preventitice measures we can try and help them before things get too serious.
The things we learnt about our hero are that by using proventive measures we can start trying to move away from a society that waits for you to break before doing anything to help. Our hero is anyone who feels stressed, anxious and/or depressed. Most students feel that mental health was the most important topic, this in itself is a sort of cry to help for Mental health.
I would improve how menlead health is viewed or even treated, I would want it to stop being so stereotyped and to actually be treated as a serious issue.
Our idea is to create a sensory room and to have a calming and to help students who suffer from an assortment of mental health issues. This area would hopefully have colorful walls, couches for Sturbridge to relax on, books to read and a collection of stim toys for this who suffer from autism or adhd. This room would ideally be used as a way for the school staff to geek a student before this get worse.
What would you recommend we add or chabge about Room 13?
