Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

As a team we chose this topic as it is a topic we all struggle with and tackle. As teenagers we experience a lot of different emotions and experience a lot of change as we become mature and older, sometimes there is a lot of pressure and stress put on us and we want to spread the fact that you aren’t alone and EVERYONE has mental health struggles.

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

I knew mental health was a challenge that everyone struggles with however I didn’t realise the extend of how hard it is to receive help and how inaccesible mental health services are for children in Ireland due to the fact it’s in high demand and there is long waiting lists leaving lots of youths in Ireland to deal with mental health alone

What have you learnt about your Hero?

I learnt my hero struggles with mental health too and even if they seem untouchable they are a real person too and struggle and can feel sad aswell

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

Just to realise how inspirational they really are and how their story and what they go through is relatable to others and can be used in a positive way

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

We have no plans finalised on what we warn our potential soloution to be however when we began to learn more about mental health we learnt about panic attacks, depression in more depth so We think we are going to make a pamphlet to help educate the community and others in our school about mental health topics and also include helplines and places to go for struggling teenagers

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

I don’t have any questions at the moment
