Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

We felt, as young teenagers, ourselves and our friends biggest problem nowadays, is mental health issues and we wanted to solve that issue in some way do we wanted to invest in advice to help others and ensure a safe teenage life.

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

We learnt a lot over the past few weeks. We’ve learnt how public and open some famous people are and how they try help others who may be struggling. We also realised and learned how big and worldwide this problem is and how it’s getting worse and worse as years go on.

What have you learnt about your Hero?

Our hero is Selena Gomez. She’s our Hero because she’s public and open about her experiences. She makes documentaries about it, does talks about it and helps people through it while dealing with it herself. She suffers with multiple mental health illnesses and we think she’s very brave. As we looked more into her lifestyle, we learned that having a busy life for them and having there life so public and famous can cause extreme anxiety and feeling restless.

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

To get as much help as possible. That is very difficult is today’s society but i think the help of raised money for charity’s and mental health services could really benefit for Selena. We could improve our hero’s sociability, interaction with people.

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

We are considering holding a bake sale or some sort of money making day, where by we raise money for pieta house or let’s get talking. We could also raise money for this to be taken more serious and get more immediate care rather than prolonged. We could have guest speakers in to our school to help our people understand and raise awareness about this topic.

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

Would do you think we could do to improve our idea? Anything you would suggest?
