Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

We chose the challenge mental health because we felt it is a huge problem in the current society especially in young people. We feel we have a strong knowledge on mental health. It is a topic that we personally want to work on and we all want to try help solve mental health issues in any way we can.


What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

After doing some desk research among our group we learned about numerous statistics about mental health. For example i in 4 people suffer from mental health issues of some kind each year. We figured that mental health is actually a huge problem in schools and that many students suffer from mental health issues that go unknown.


What have you learnt about your Hero?

Our hero is Mel B and problems she has faced with her mental health, anxiety, sexual abuse and mental abuse. The reason she faced these challenges is because she was in. an abusive marriage for 10 years. Post divorce and she recovered, she started to speak out about her situation and helping others in similar situations.


If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

If we could help Mel B we would say that she had more guidance before going into the relationship and that she had continued help throughout. We wish it would have been easier for her to speak out sooner. I'd say if she had this help maybe she wouldn't have had these problems with her mental health.


Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

One solution we are considering is a well-being App/Website. This will help metal health as it will include daily tasks to keep yourself active and doing daily tasks like going for a walk or clean your room. We will include daily motivational quotes. A water tracker to keep a good intake of water. Mediation to relax and rest your mind. Having a daily goal to achieve like taking up reading. Our goals for the app is to resolve different problems like having a good appetite, doing exercise, making time for your friends.

How can we make our App more affective and unique so that it will actually make a difference in people's life? How should we make a start to making the app/website? Any recommendations for other topics? How will we get an audience for the app/website?
