We have chosen this topic because it affects all our lives. We think this is one of the biggest problems we must face as a society, and we think this is one of the biggest challenges we must try and fix. All our lives we’ve been told on how climate change is affecting us and will be the reason for our planet to die and we've been told on how to help against it, but we see that not a lot of people actually implement this and now we want to try and help this from not happening
From our research we discovered that there are a variety of ways you can help with climate change no matter how big or small anything that helps can make a difference like for example you can save energy at home, walk, bike or use public transport when you can instead of a car, throw away less foods and reduce, reuse, repair & recycle. And the bigger things you can do is change to an electric car instead of a diesel car and you can have your home be fully renewable by having it run on solar energy.
Our hero is a young adult/teenager who is not aware of the effects global warming will have on his life. For example, the challenges we face are more frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans which can directly harm animals, destroy the places we live, and wreak havoc on our livelihoods and communities. The reasons for this are people's neglectful actions that cause global warming like littering, not recycling, wasting food, continuing to use fossil fueled cars
We would like to see him living in a house that runs on complete clean energy. He would do this by having more knowledge about climate change, so he knows what sources of energy are renewable and what ones are non-renewable. For his house to run on clean energy he would use for example, solar panels on the roof of his house to gather solar energy.
Our current idea is a free app or website that would list things about climate change, it would list things like temperatures over the years and sea levels over the years as well. The app/website would have a list of small little things everyone could do to help with climate change. For example, walking to places that are not as far away instead of driving and saving electricity, so you can reduce your carbon footprint.
The questions we would ask the mentors are: How would you spread awareness about climate change? What do you think people can do to help with climate change?
