Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

As a group we chose the topic Climate Change as it is a big problem that will continue to grow if we don’t put a stop to it. It is affecting us and will continue to affect future generations in ways like forest fires due to rise in temperatures, flooding due to ice caps melting and extreme weather conditions which are destroying our planet, people’s homes, animal habitats and our biodiversity.

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

From our research we learned how much climate change has a toll on peoples lives it can change your living situation in a split second, people’s homes are being destroyed by severe weather conditions, flooding and fires which are all happening because of our actions that we make on the daily.

What have you learnt about your Hero?

Our hero is Nora Marshall, a 31 year old single female. Nora lost her job due to budget cuts, this has caused many financial troubles for her and her family, she is struggling to pay her bills and mortgage. All of this has lead to her falling into a depression. Nora has many life goals such as finding a new job to support her child and to grow the relationship between her and her child. She hopes to start working on her mental health and trying to get herself into a better position in life.

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

I would try to improve her quality of living by getting her back into work so she can earn money to support herself and her child which would take a major weight off her shoulders so she can focus on taking care of her mental health and building on the relationships she has with the people she cares for.

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

As a group we discussed many solutions for Nora. Although she is looking for a job which can be a long process she could do some volunteer work for other groups and society’s to keep her busy. Even though she’s not getting payed for it at least it is something that will help keep her mind off of all the bad things going on in her life. Doing charitable work will decrease the levels of stress that Nora feels and bring her to an at ease mind set.

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

We as a group would like to know more about the affect of climate change on the different groups of people in society and what little things can be done to make their lives any bit easier.
