Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

There are many people struggling with their mental health, they find it hard to speak up about what they’re going through. On our jewellery we will have a symbol which will identify this.

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

From our research we have discovered that over 40% of Irish adults struggling with their mental health which is almost half of the population in Ireland.

What have you learnt about your Hero?

Ruth Keller is the name of our hero. The challenges she faces are: she was in an abusive relationship for almost 2 years, not being able to tell anyone about what she was going through. From this tragic event she went through she developed PTSD which affects her life daily. That is the reason she is trying to spread awareness.

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

If she could expand her platform to make an even larger variety aware of what she went through as well as help people who have experienced the same thing. She could make a support group and raise money for people in a domestic abuse situation.

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

One solution we are considering is creating a bracelet with a symbol on it showing that the person is in an abusive situation.

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

What symbol would best represent and also have a meaning behind our theme which is mental health?
