Why did your team choose to focus on this challenge?We chose climate change as our challenge as we feel the main reason people aren't helping is because the don't know how to help so we thought our app would not only raise awareness, but also tell people how to help do their part in fighting climate change.
What have you learned about the challenge that you didn't know before?
Before starting our research we knew a good bit about climate change and the detrimental effects it is having on our future. We know alot more now on what we can do to help. We focused on the recycling and waste management side of it because alot more know about recycling but don't know the essential details of what waste can pollute, recycling details or when and where to out their bins out.
Outline the specific problem you would like to solve for your Hero and two or three solutions you think would help.
Our solution is an app that can educate people on the effects of their actions (good and bad) on the planet. It will also contain all the necessary information for sustainable waste disposal. One feature will be a feature which tells what waste goes in what bin and it will also contain a rotation saying which bin is to go out and will track the bin trucks in real time. You can also request help or volunteer to help elderly or weak neighbours of the community. If you request help a volunteer will help you take out your bins and bring them back in.
