Why as a team did you choose to focus on this challenge?

we felt inspired by mental health and diversity and felt that merging the two made sense given the similarities between them. We thought that if we picked a topic we were truly interested in we would be more willing to work at it and enjoy it more which has been the case so far Lots of people have struggled with mental health even people we know very well so we thought it would be interesting to research the topic and find out if we can do anything to help people with mental health issues

What do you know now about the challenge that you didn't know before?

One fact that we found very interesting is that people of all ages can suffer from mental health issues even kids. I had a perception going into this that mental health only really affected people aged 12-50 however I turned out to be very wrong. People with depression are also more likely to suffer from chronic health issues. I think this relates to an old saying careful that you wish for as you are almost manifesting an illness onto yourself

What have you learnt about your Hero?

Our hero is batman. We already knew about Batman but in doing this research we found out he actually has a lot of mental issues himself including ptsd, depression etc Batman obviously faces lots of physical challenges but also faces quite a few mental ones, like having to drive to keep on working and running on little to no sleep and having to go out in the streets everyday can be mentally draining and would no doubt damage your mental health

If you could improve one thing for your Hero what would that be?

I would make it so his parents never died. Of course this meaning he would never of become Batman it would mean he lives a happy normal healthy life. He would run the business as his dad retires and would spend his time on the company instead of fighting criminals. He would more than likely settle down have kids and live a long happy life

Do you have any ideas for a potential solution? No matter how raw, share them with your Mentors for feedback.

One solution we are considering to mark days on your calendar to spend allocated time with each family member on each day. For example, Monday help mum or dad with the dinner, Tuesday help your sibling with their homework, Friday watch a movie with your family. These are our raw ideas for what we are calling the family wellbeing calendar. We will develop an app that will generate activities to do randomly each day with a random family member

Ask your Mentor anything …. This is a chance to ask your Mentors a direct question relating to your Big Idea.

Have you dealt with mental issues yourself and how did you find the best way to deal with. Was it having a good relationship with your family that helps you through your tough times. If so would you get back to us explaining how having a good relationship with your family can help as we believe its vital on having good mental health and we would love to hear your thoughts on this.
